Igor Ivanovich Simonov was born in 1927. He studied first at the Sverdlovsk Art College, then at the Repin Institute of Art until 1954.

Important shows include:

  • ‘All-Union Art Exhibition’; Moscow, 1955.

  • ‘Soviet Russia’; Moscow, 1960.

He specialized in paintings of steel workers from the late 1950s to the early 1960s.
