Vasili Filippovich Rudnev was born in 1928 in Plotnikovo in the Novosibirsk Region. He studied at the Intermediate Art School in St. Petersburg and then at the Repin Academy of Art from which he graduated in 1955.
He has participated in major exhibitions throughout Russia, including “Soviet Russia”, Moscow, in 1960. His works can be found in collections in Russia, Europe, and the United States.
He lives and works in St. Petersburg where he is a professor of painting in the Aleksei Sokolov studio. He is especially well known for his paintings of village and countryside subjects.
