Vladimir Stepanovich Mikhailov was born on October 1, 1914. He studied painting at the Penza Art School from 1936 to 1939 (600 km east of Moscow). He lived in Voronezh, painting portraits, still-lifes and landscapes. In 1950 he was criticized in the press for his lack of social optimism about life in Russia evident in his works. He participated in the Great Patriotic War (WW2). He was an artist of the Voronezh Association “Artist” (1946 - 1953) and art workshops of the Voronezh department of the Art Fund of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (1953 - 1958). He also participated in municipal, regional and zonal exhibitions. Since 1958, he worked as a scenic artist of the Voronezh Theatre. Among his works are: “Hingan Pass” (1947), “Rebuilding of the Plant” (1949), “On the Kolkhoz Apiary” (1950), “Model Aircraft Constructors” (1951), “Gorodki-players” (1957), “Chinese Immigrants” (1961). He died in Voronezh in 1966.
