Olga Nikitaevna Fomina was born to a rich heritage of St. Petersburg artists. Her mother is Irena Safronova, chair of the Art Department at the Techinilogical Institute. Her father, Nikita Fomin, is a professor at the Repin Academy of Art and a member of the four-person FoRUS Group. Her grandfather, Pyotr Fomin, who died in 1996, was an academician who taught at the Repin and at various times headed the Repin and Artists’ Union of Russia. Fomina’s art training began very early, in the Russian tradition. She was trained at the Middle School associated with the Repin and has now completed four years at the Academy of Art. After her first year she was accepted into the Mylnikov studio. Fomina has shown her works in St. Petersburg and in the United States. Her work is in collections in France, the United States, and Russia. She is married to a sculptor.
